Minutes of the Clintonville Public Library Board of Trustees
December 18, 2002
The regular meeting of the Clintonville Library Board was held on Wednesday, December 18, 2002 at 4:00 p.m. at the Library, with Dr. Jerald Schoenike temporarily presiding.
The following members responded to roll call: Dick Koeppen, Sandy Loberg, Jerald Schoenike, Judy Zeuske, and Cathy Belliveau (arrived 4:10 p.m.). Excused absent: Bev Kersten, Tom O'Toole Others present: Kathy Mitchell
The Open Meeting Statement.
The minutes of the November 20, 2002 regular meeting were approved as printed on motion by Dick Koeppen, seconded by Sandy Loberg. ALL VOTING AYE.
The Financial Report and Special Accounts Report were approved as printed on motion by Judy Zeuske, seconded by Dick Koeppen. ALL VOTING AYE.
Cathy Belliveau took over the meeting at 4:10 p.m.
The total expenses, including salaries and revised capital improvements, in the amount of $42,939.59 were allowed for payment on motion by Sandy Loberg, seconded by Judy Zeuske. ALL VOTING AYE. The Librarian's Report was read, discussed and ordered filed.
On a motion by Sandy Loberg, seconded by Jerald Schoenike, the monthly library board meeting will be at 4:00 p.m. during the 2003 calendar year. ALL VOTING AYE. MOTION CARRIED.
The six pcs budgeted at $10,800.00 in the 2002 Capital Improvement Program were purchased for approximately $2,700.00 less. Director Kathy Mitchell used these monies to purchase a wheelchair accessible, adjustable height computer table from Corporate Express for $1,075.00. Also three (3) 5 ft. display panels from Demco were purchased. A refurbished security camera will be added to the front entrance of the library at a cost $250.00. The cost of replacing restroom faucets ($692.00) and a new vacuum cleaner ($647.00) were also added to the Capital Improvement Program for 2002. Total expenses $12,904.00.
On a motion by Judy Zeuske, seconded by Sandy Loberg the Director's salary increase will be effective January 1, 2003. ALL VOTING AYE. MOTION CARRIED.
The Director's evaluation was tabled until the February 2003 meeting.
Approximately $500.00 will be sent this month to the library on behalf of the Teach Grant. This money will be deposited in the Gift and Memorial Account.
The wiring for the Gates Grant computer installation is complete. Two computers ($4,910.00), a Spanish keyboard ($25.00), Network printer ($1,429.00), an auto sensing switch ($299.00), and a Network Accessory Kit ($155.00) are included in this grant. Director Mitchell signed a Technical Support Agreement to provide public access to these computers. Diane Raschke (Children's Librarian) and Director Mitchell have signed up for training to be held at the Clintonville Public Library on February 3rd and 4th. Computers are expected to be shipped out on January 10, 2003 and installed on February 3, 2003.
Sandy Loberg, a member of the Planning Committee, gave a report on the group's progress. One suggestion was to provide classes for senior citizens on how to use the library computers. The committee continues their work on the Wisconsin Library Guidelines.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:55 p.m. on motion by Jerald Schoenike, seconded by Dick Koeppen.
