Minutes of the Clintonville Public Library Board of Trustees

May 21, 2003

The regular meeting of the Clintonville Library Board was held on Wednesday, May 21, 2003 at 4:15 p.m. at the Library, with Cathy Belliveau presiding.

The following members responded to roll call: Cathy Belliveau, Virginia Federwitz, Dick Koeppen, Sandy Loberg, and Tom O'Toole.
Excused absent: Bev Kersten and Jerald Schoenike

Others present: Kathy Mitchell and Diane Raschke

The Open Meeting Statement.

The minutes of the April 16, 2003 regular meeting were approved as printed on motion by Dick Koeppen, seconded by Tom O'Toole. ALL VOTING AYE. MOTION CARRED.

The Financial Report and Special Accounts Reports were approved as printed on motion by Sandy Loberg, seconded by Virginia Federwitz. ALL VOTING AYE. MOTION CARRIED.

The total expenses, including salaries, in the amount of $29521.87 were allowed for payment on motion by Dick Koeppen, seconded by Tom O'Toole. ALL VOTING AYE. MOTION CARRIED.

The Librarian's Report was read, discussed and ordered filed.

Business:

Election of officers - Sandy Loberg made a motion to elect the following slate of officers: Cathy Belliveau, President; Jerald Schoenike, Vice President; and Bev Kersten, Secretary. Tom O'Toole seconded the motion. ALL VOTING AYE. MOTION CARRIED.

Diane Raschke gave a presentation on "Laugh It Up @ Your Library," the 2003 Summer Library Program. Summer Story Times will be offered at the library and at Bear Creek Community Center. Diane will also be going to the high school with Story Times for the summer school students. Summer Reading Programs featuring prizes for pre-readers through fifth graders and adventures for sixth graders through adults will be offered from June 13th - August 22nd. Four special programs for the entire family are being sponsored by grants from the Outagamie Waupaca Library System and the Friends of the Library in June and July. A new event Reading with Rover will be held on July 24th. Diane finished her presentation by reciting a poem "Why Do I Have to Clean My Room" by Jack Prelutsky, which is part of her presentation to the classes when they visit the library to hear about the summer programs.

Fly Me Flag Company of Green Bay has replacement rope for our flag pole which will cost $27.45. To replace all the hardware and the rope will cost $94.95 without installation. Kathy will order the complete amount needed to replace the hardware and the rope.

Privacy Policy - Kathy read a letter from City Attorney Tim Schmid reviewing a sample privacy policy prepared by the State Division for Libraries, Technology, and Community Living and suggesting that the State Attorney General's opinion on releasing library security tapes be attached to the policy once that response is received. The Clintonville Police Department requested library security tapes in reference to an ongoing investigation. The tapes were turned over to the police in May. Kathy presented some additional information which could be added to the model policy. The Board will wait to vote on the Privacy Policy until the City Attorney has a chance to review these additional points.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:50 p.m. on motion by Tom O'Toole, seconded by Virginia Federwitz. ALL VOTING AYE. MOTION CARRIED.
