Minutes of the Clintonville Public Library Board of Trustees
June 15, 2005
The regular meeting of the Clintonville Library Board was called to order by Cathy Belliveau at 4:06 p.m. in accordance with Wisconsin Open Meeting Laws and ADA requirements.
The following members responded to roll call: Cathy Belliveau, Virginia Federwitz,
Beverly Kersten, Sandy Loberg, and Jerald Schoenike
Excused absent: Ray Kasel, Tom O’Toole
Others present: Kathy Mitchell
Citizen’s Forum: no citizen’s present
Moved by Kersten, seconded by Federwitz to approve the minutes of the May 18, 2005 regular meeting as printed. Motion carried unanimously.
Moved by Schoenike, seconded by Kersten to approve the Financial Report and Special Accounts Report as printed. Motion carried unanimously.
Moved by Loberg, seconded by Schoenike to approve the total expenses, including salaries, in the amount of $34,859.92. Motion carried unanimously.
The Librarian’s Report was discussed and ordered filed. The Board gave its OK to close for a day so the library can be used as a training site for the OWLS new automation system if OWLS requests it.
Business:
Output Measures .
Output measures were taken the week of April 18 th. Reference questions have
increased. The number of people using the catalog computers is estimated at 27,000+
Counts will be done again in October.
Capital Plan.
The Capital Plan the Board had approved in January was approved by the City Council
with changes of the year to be done or the project being spread over a two year
span. Moved by Schoenike, seconded by Kersten to approve the 2006-2010 revised
Capital Expenditure Plan. Motion carried unanimously.
Technology Plan .
The history of the plan was updated. No new goals were set due to the implementation
of the OWLS new automation system which will take place in 2006. Moved by Loberg,
seconded by Schoenike to approve the Technology Plan. Motion carried unanimously.
Long Range Planning .
The Clintonville Public Library functions as an information center for the Clintonville
area. The library is committed to inform, entertain, enrich, and to foster self-learning
through free access to its collection, services, and facilities.
Moved by Loberg, seconded by Kersten to adopt the above mission statement with the two grammatical changes made. Motion carried unanimously. The next step will be to discuss our goals.
Legislative Updates
Director Mitchell gave information on several legislative actions concerning
public libraries – funding, UW System cuts, state funding of local libraries
and BadgerLink, a bill to repeal the maintenance of effort, property tax freeze
proposals, and various federal issues.
Clintonville’s 150th Birthday Celebration .
Loberg and Mitchell gave updates on the celebration and Friends of the Library
participation.
Moved by Schoenike, seconded by Kersten to adjourn at 5:04 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
