Minutes of the Clintonville Public Library Board of Trustees
Clintonville, Wisconsin
November 21, 2007
The regular meeting of the Clintonville Library Board was called to order by Cathy Belliveau at 4:25 p.m. in accordance with Wisconsin Open Meeting Laws and ADA requirements.
The following members responded to roll call: Cathy Belliveau, Ray Kasel, Sandy Loberg, and Jerald Schoenike.
Excused absent: Virginia Federwitz, Joan Paulson
Absent: Tom O’Toole
Others present: Kathy Mitchell, Director
Citizens Forum: No citizens present
Moved by Schoenike, seconded by Kasel to approve the minutes of the October 10, 2007 regular meeting and October 24, 2007 special meeting as printed. Motion carried unanimously.
Moved by Schoenike, seconded by Loberg to approve the Financial Report and Special Accounts Report as printed. Motion carried unanimously.
Moved by Kasel, seconded by Schoenike to approve the total expenses, including salaries, in the amount of $38,603.93. Motion carried unanimously.
The Librarian’s Report was discussed and ordered filed.
Director Mitchell reported that the Police Department is doing background checks on volunteers.
BUSINESS
December Board Meeting
Moved by Schoenike, seconded by Kasel to set the December Board Meeting date for December 12, 2007. Motion carried unanimously.
2007 Budget
Kasel moved, Loberg seconded authorizing Director Mitchell to spend down the 2007 budget. Motion carried unanimously.
Upgrade computers and printer
Director Mitchell reported on the purchase of 4 computers, renewing the warranty on the laptop computer, and replacing the public printer from capital funds.
Outside sign
Kasel moved, Schoenike seconded to approve the purchase of an outside sign if the Friends of the Library do not purchase it. Motion carried unanimously.
Art Prints and Display Rack
Director Mitchell reported that during the carpet project the x2 file in the Wisconsin Room could be moved into the Periodical Reading Area where the art print rack currently sits. This would make room for additional shelving in the Wisconsin Room in the future. The rack could be given to D. Mitchell Interiors or Honey Creek. Original art prints purchased at the Friends of the Library Art Fairs would be kept but the remaining art prints would be given to the Friends for their sales.
Carpet project
$1,300 can be saved by having staff and volunteers help move the books on Monday December 17, Friday December 21, Wednesday December 26, and possibly Thursday December 27. All staff members that are available will be asked to work on Thursday December 27 to get ready for the library to open on Friday December 28.
Fines
Director Mitchell was directed to do what was best for the patrons concerning fines following the carpet project.
2008 Salaries and Budget
Loberg moved, Kasel seconded to approve the 2008 budget as presented for the November 27, 2007 City Council Meeting. Motion carried unanimously.
Personnel Handbook
Schoenike moved, Kasel seconded to approve the changes as presented to the Personnel Policy regarding sick leave. Motion carried unanimously.
Moved by Kasel, seconded by Loberg to adjourn at 4:50 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
