Minutes of the Clintonville Public Library Board of Trustees
Clintonville, Wisconsin
February 20, 2008

The regular meeting of the Clintonville Library Board was called to order by Jerald Schoenike at 4:10 p.m. in accordance with Wisconsin Open Meeting Laws and ADA requirements.  Cathy Belliveau arrived at 4:15 p.m. and took charge of the meeting.

The following members responded to roll call: Virginia Federwitz, Sandy Loberg, Tom O’Toole, Joan Paulson and Jerald Schoenike.

Citizens Forum:  Ray Kasel was present as a citizen.  He submitted his letter of resignation from the Library Board.  Included in the letter were his reasons for resigning.  Moved by O’Toole, seconded by Loberg to accept his resignation with regret.

Moved by Paulson, seconded by Loberg to approve the minutes of the January 16, 2008 regular meeting as printed.  Motion carried unanimously.

Moved by O’Toole, seconded by Loberg to approve the Financial Report and Special Accounts Report as printed.  Motion carried unanimously.

Moved by Loberg, seconded by Paulson to approved the revised total expenses, including salaries, for the month of January in the amount of $35,194.20 (an addition of $118.)  Motion carried unanimously.

Moved by Schoenike, seconded by Paulson to approve the total expenses, including salaries, in the amount of $37,034.46.  Motion carried unanimously.

The Librarian’s Report was discussed and ordered filed.  The staff in-service was still held on February 18th despite the inclement weather.  The OWLS staff member who was to lead and the Marion Library Staff who were to attend did not make the meeting but the staff worked through various computer searching techniques.

The Young Adult section received a compliment from an English teacher from Shawano.

Two free booklets have been ordered from the National Institute for Literacy on
 getting toddlers and preschoolers ready to read.  These will be given to parents and child caregivers.  A suggestion was made to contact the public school early childhood program, the preschools and daycares in town to work together on this matter.

The Library will be receiving a laptop through a LSTA Literacy Grant.  Director Mitchell will be in contact with the ESL teacher at the public school for input on how this computer might be utilized.

BUSINESS

Use of water for St. Martin Lutheran School building project
Moved by O’Toole, seconded by Paulson to give Director Mitchell the authority to work with city officials and St. Martin during the construction of their new school. Motion carried unanimously.

Approve State Annual Report
Approve Statement Concerning Public Library System Effectiveness
Moved by Schoenike, seconded by O’Toole to approve the state annual report and the statement concerning public library system effectiveness contained in the state annual report.  Motion carried unanimously.

Local Annual Report
The local annual report was present in bookmark format.  It will be given to city council members at their next meeting.

Annual Summary of Friends Contributions
The Friends of the Library contributed money for performers, summer library program prizes, and publicity for library programs.  The grand total of contributions was $3,421.18.  The Board will send them a thank you for their generous donation.
