Minutes of the Clintonville Public Library Board of Trustees
Clintonville, Wisconsin
June 19, 2008

The regular meeting of the Clintonville Library Board was called to order by Cathy Belliveau at 4 p.m. in accordance with Wisconsin Open Meeting Laws and ADA requirements.

The following members responded to roll call:  Cathy Belliveau, Virginia Federwitz, Ray Kasel, Joan Paulson, and Jeannie Schley.  Excused absent was Jerry Schoenike
 Absent was Tom O’Toole. 
Others present were Kathy Mitchell.

Citizens Forum:  No citizens present

Moved by Kasel, seconded by Schley to approve the minutes of the May 21, 2008 regular meeting as printed.  Motion carried unanimously.

Moved by Paulson, seconded by Schley to approve the Financial Report and Special Accounts Report as printed.  Motion carried unanimously.

Moved by Kasel, seconded by Schley to approve the total expenses, including salaries, in the amount of $27,426.19.  Motion carried unanimously.

The Librarian’s Report was discussed and ordered filed.

BUSINESS
Salaries—Minimum Wage
Paulson moved, Schley seconded to increase the hourly minimum wage for the pages and duster to $6.55 to coincide with federal minimum wage effective July 24th.  Motion carried unanimously.

Chamber Business After 5
One of the objectives in the library’s long range plan is to hold a Chamber of Commerce Business After 5 at the library.  The Chamber of Commerce was contacted and there is an opening in October of this year.  The Board selected October 21 from 5 – 7 p.m..  Director Mitchell will check with the Chamber secretary to see if this date will work. Plans for the event will include refreshments, displays, and tours of the library.

Gift and Memorial Funds
Gift and Memorial CD
Paulson moved, Schley seconded to take $5000. of the Gift and Memorial Funds and add it to the $6813.04 that is presently in the Gift and Memorial CD and reinvest it at the best rate available when the CD comes due later this month.  Motion carried unanimously.  Director Mitchell will check to see which local financial institutions can be considered for city investments.

Capital Projects
The new shelving for the Wisconsin Room and additional shelves for existing shelving have been ordered.  $485. was saved by ordering before the steel prices increased on June 1st.  $4500. was allotted in the capital improvement plan for 2009 for the replacement of the front door mechanisms.

Earbud and Battery Sales
Permission was granted to sell earbuds and AAA batteries at the front desk for use on the Public Internet computers and with Playaway audio books.

Position Descriptions
Kasel moved, Paulson seconded to adapt the staff position descriptions as taken from the “Position Classifications for Wisconsin Public Libraries”.  Motion carried unanimously.  Custodial positions will be reviewed at the next meeting.

Moved by Kasel, seconded by Schley to adjourn at 4:43 p.m.  Motion carried unanimously.
