Minutes of the Clintonville Public Library Board of Trustees
Clintonville, Wisconsin
May 21, 2008
The regular meeting of the Clintonville Library Board was called to order by vice president Jerald Schoenike at 4:03 pm in accordance with Wisconsin Open Meeting Laws and ADA requirements. Cathy Belliveau took charge of the meeting at 4:15 p.m.
The following members responded to roll call: Virginia Federwitz, Ray Kasel, Joan Paulson, and Jerald Schoenike. Cathy Belliveau arrived at 4:15 pm. Excused absent were Tom O’Toole and Jeannie Schley.
Others present were Kathy Mitchell, Diane Raschke, and Tim Biemal from the Tribune-Gazette.
Additions to the Agenda: The Town of Matteson Donation and the 2008 Capital Plan.
Citizens Forum: none.
Moved by Kasel, seconded by Paulson to approve, as corrected, the minutes of the April 16, 2008 regular meeting. Sandy Loberg’s name should have been included under others present. Motion carried unanimously.
Moved by Paulson, seconded by Kasel to approve the Financial Report and Special Accounts Report as printed. Motion carried unanimously.
Moved by Kasel, seconded by Schoenike to approve the total expenses, including salaries, in the amount of $39,657.74. Motion carried unanimously.
The Librarian’s Report was discussed and ordered filed. Director Mitchell reported that Amy Fassender, who has been a page for four years, is leaving and will be replaced by Amanda Novak.
BUSINESS
Summer Program Presentation
Diane Raschke shared the details of the 2008 Summer Library Program, Catch the Reading Bug @ Your Library and Metamorphosis @ Your Library. Samples of the information for the children’s, teen and adult programs were distributed. She also shared information about some of the special events that will take place as part of the program.
Board Meeting Day and Tine
Schoenike moved, Paulson seconded to change the board meeting time to the third Thursday of the month at 4pm. Motion carried unanimously.
Election of Officers
Kasel moved, Paulson seconded to keep the current slate of officers in place. All the officers agreed. Motion carried unanimously. The officers will be Cathy Belliveau, president; Jerald Schoenike, vice president, and Virginia Federwitz, secretary.
Economic Contributions of Libraries
Director Mitchell shared a power point presentation of key points from the report on the economic contributions of Wisconsin public libraries to the economy of Wisconsin given at the Wisconsin Association of Public Librarians Spring Conference. The entire report is available on the DPI website.
2008 Capital Plan
Schoenike moved, Kasel seconded to authorize the director to purchase new shelving for the Wisconsin Room and additional shelving to be added for existing shelving in the library. Motion carried unanimously.
Five Year Capital Plan
Kasel moved, Paulson seconded to adapt the revised Capital Plan for 2009 – 2013 with the addition of the cost of replacing the mechanisms on the front doors in 2009. Motion carried unanimously.
Town of Matteson Donation
Schoenike moved, Kasel seconded to spend the Matteson donation of $1,000 for purchase of adult and juvenile books. Motion carried unanimously. The Town will be notified of this action.
Moved by Kasel, seconded by Paulson to adjourn at 5 pm. Motion carried unanimously.
